I have been a keen hiker and mountaineer for years, but I am also passionate about volcanology, which is the subject of my PhD. Taking the opportunity of a conference I will attend in November in Chile, I wanted to combine these two passions to climb the highest volcano on the planet. At the end of my Tour du Mont-Blanc last June, I met a group of people who were embarking on their TMB by organizing a fundraising event for Mecenat Chirurgie Cardiaque, I immediately thought it was something I could do for my sporting challenge.

Nevado Ojos del Salado is the highest volcano on Earth, and the second highest summit in America after Aconcagua. It peaks at 6,893 meters above sea level and is located on the border between Chile and Argentina in the Andes mountain range, south of the Atacama Desert. It does not present any particular difficulty in alpinism, but the weather can make for a strenuous climb, in addition to the lack of oxygen at this altitude. This volcano is still considered active, although the date of its last eruption is not known. The expedition will last a total of 10 days, with acclimatization for several days, progressing little by little to acclimate the body to the altitude.

The goal of the fundraising is to reach € 12,000, to be able to save at least one child, but if we can do more there is no limit, so every donation is important! Thank you for all your donations!
